Biography

Cai Lei, Ph.D., Associate Chief Physician, Department 18 (Fat Grafting and Body Contouring Center), Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. After graduating from Zhejiang Medical University in 1996, he was assigned to the Department of Surgery at Tianjin Dagang Oilfield General Hospital, where he served successively as a resident physician and attending physician. After obtaining his Ph.D. in Plastic Surgery from Peking Union Medical College in 2011, he stayed at the hospital, with research focusing on regenerative medicine; from 2014 to 2015, he was a visiting scholar in the United States. He was promoted to Associate Chief Physician in 2018. Since 1996, he has been engaged in clinical work in general surgery, burn and plastic surgery, and aesthetic surgery for more than 20 years, with rich clinical experience. He currently focuses on liposuction and fat grafting and mainly performs the following procedures: ① Reconstruction: fat grafting for scar repair, fat grafting for refractory wounds, fat grafting for breast reconstruction after breast cancer surgery, correction of gynecomastia, and lipoabdominoplasty. ② Body contouring and aesthetic procedures: liposuction of the face, upper arms, waist and abdomen, thighs and calves; facial rejuvenation with fat grafting; breast augmentation, buttock augmentation, and hand rejuvenation with fat grafting; and radiofrequency skin tightening for facial, neck, and abdominal rejuvenation. ③ Others: excision of superficial body masses, scar excision and plastic repair, botulinum toxin injection for wrinkle reduction, etc. He has participated in research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Key Clinical Specialty Projects of the Ministry of Health, and the Capital Health Development Research Special Fund, participated in clinical research on artificial intelligence-related liposuction, and published 28 professional articles.
Technical specialties: microfat grafting for scar improvement, liposuction and fat grafting for body contouring, facial rejuvenation with fat grafting, and minimally invasive aesthetic procedures.
